Home prizes that earn their space.
A useful home prize can make an ordinary day a little better. Before choosing a sofa, appliance or garden upgrade, picture where it would go and what it would replace.
Start with a real need
Make a short list of things you would use regularly. Perhaps your vacuum cleaner is struggling, you need a work chair or the patio would benefit from better seating. A prize on that list has a clearer purpose than a large bundle of things you would otherwise never buy.
Think beyond the headline retail value. An appliance may be impressive but take more counter space than you can spare. A furniture set may look good in a photograph while being difficult to get through your front door. Winning it would not automatically solve those problems.
Measure the route as well as the space
For large items, check the published width, height and depth, along with any clearance requirements. Measure doorways, stairs and corners on the delivery route. For garden items, consider the assembled size and whether the prize includes a base, fixings or assembly.
If the promotion does not name the exact model or dimensions, mark that detail as a question. A photograph should not be treated as a specification: it may show accessories or styling that are not included.

Delivery is part of the prize decision
Confirm the eligible delivery area and whether the organiser can deliver to your address type. Check arrangements for islands, remote areas, flats and restricted-access properties where relevant. A collection-only prize requires a suitable vehicle and enough time to collect it.
Do not assume an installer, electrician or other specialist is included. If permission from a landlord or building manager would be needed, establish that before making plans for a permanent change.
Consider what comes after delivery
Some prizes need filters, cleaning products, batteries, subscriptions or other regular purchases. Others need storage for large attachments or seasonal items. Check which accessories are supplied, and look at the manufacturer’s information for the exact product.
A simple test is to finish this sentence: “I would use this for…” If the answer is vague, you can leave that competition for someone who would enjoy it more. You do not need a reason to enter every promotion you see.
