A concert, a special meal or a day learning something new can be a lovely prize. With experiences, the date and the practical arrangements often matter as much as the event itself.
Start with who, where and when
Check whether the prize is for a fixed event or a voucher you book later. Note the number of tickets or guests, the location and the time you need to arrive. If a child would be joining you, read any age restrictions and adult-accompaniment requirements.
A flexible voucher still has conditions. There may be an expiry date, limited available sessions or excluded weekends. Ask whether the booking must simply be made before expiry or whether the experience must also take place by then.
Tickets are not always the whole outing
Work out how you would get there and home. A late finish can change the cost of public transport or make an overnight stay necessary. Check whether food, equipment, parking and any booking fees are part of the prize.

Make essential requirements explicit
If step-free access, a particular seating arrangement, dietary provision or a companion place is essential, check with the organiser or venue. A general description of the venue cannot confirm that the specific prize package includes what you need.
Do not assume that tickets can be resold, transferred or exchanged. Named-ticket rules and guest changes can matter if your intended companion becomes unavailable. Look for the stated cancellation or substitution arrangements rather than expecting a cash alternative.
Picture the complete day
For an illustrative example, a pair of evening tickets might be perfect if the venue is a short journey away. The same tickets could be difficult to use if you need a hotel and time off work. Neither situation changes the prize itself; it changes how well the prize fits you.
Put the date in your diary as a provisional note, not a confirmed booking. Avoid paying for non-refundable travel just because you have entered. If you win, confirm the details directly before making arrangements.
Keep a short list of experiences you love
Choose interests rather than chasing every event: live music, food, sport, theatre, crafts or time outdoors. That makes browsing more enjoyable and gives you a useful reason to skip prizes you would struggle to use.
